I got news for you, and it is bad news. After six months on zolpidem, you are going to have a difficult time quitting. Zolpidem takes away from the brain the ability to sleep without it, and it takes the brain a long time to heal. My Dr. told me six months to recover. My sleep Dr. told me that for every week you take it, you can expect to suffer withdrawals for a week. . . You took it for six months? There is a very good reason the makes of zolpidem say to not take it for more than ten days. Your idiot doctor that let you take it month after month did you a grave disservice. I only took it for four and a half months, and when I quit taking it, I suffered severe insomnia and anxiety for four very long very hellish months. . . You can’t just abruptly quit. You could have seizures and end up in the hospital if you do. You have to slowly taper your dosage over the course of weeks or months, and you will not sleep well while you are doing this. When you do quit taking it, you will not sleep well for a very long time. Knowledgeable doctors will switch you to Valium, and slowly taper you off of the valium over the course of a couple of months or longer. This gives the brain to heal and lets you get some sleep in the process.. . Come to the topix ambien topic and read about what it takes to quit taking Zolpidem. And see the hell it makes of your life.. . Read the Ashton manual found at benzo.uk.org. It goes into detail about benzo addiction, withdrawals, and recovery. Dr. Ashton ran a benzo withdrawal/detox clinic for over ten years, and has extensive experience with benzo recovery. Recovery from ambien is the same as recovery from benzos, as the drugs to the exact same thing to the brain. If anything, Zolpidem is worse because of it’s potency and short half-life in the blood.. . Are there any natural sleeping pills? After taking Zolpidem for six months, there is nothing that will do much until your brain heals and recovers from what the Zolpidem did.
